Carla Raffaelli

Carla Raffaelli received the M.S. and the Ph.D degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1985 and 1990, respectively.
Since 1985 she has been with the Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Systems of the University of Bologna, Italy.
Her research interests include performance analysis of telecommunication networks, switching architectures, protocols and broadband communication, TCP performance, open router design and testing. She started her research activity on ATM networks and switching in the framework of the Telecommunication Project supported by the Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.).
Since 1993 she participated in European projects, the RACE-ATMOS, the ACTS-KEOPS and the IST-DAVID projects. She also participated in several national research projects on telecommunication networks. She is currently involved in research on optical packet switching and quality of service in IP networks.
She is an associate professor in telecommunications at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Bologna. She is the author of many technical papers on broadband switching and network modelling. She regularly acts as a reviewer for technical conferences and journals edited by IEEE.
